My new “effortful self-care” commitment is working so much better for me than trying to be more specific about what I do and outright forcing the exercise. By telling myself I will spend 10-60 minutes per day doing something good for myself that takes some work, I am not only getting lots more exercise but also spending more time on my drumming and chanting practice and other yummy creative/spiritual stuff that fills me up with energy and makes me a happier and more productive person. While I initially included a larger number of “good for me” options to stop myself from feeling so trapped by exercise, the result has been a renewed commitment to doing serious high-quality self-care even when I’m tired. I feel really good about this, especially since I have in fact been pretty tired lately due to some health issues.
I’ve also made progress on many miscellaneous personal and business projects and tasks, including my basement remodel stuff and my e-course, the first component of which will be an online quiz to help people determine what type of organizer they are. I hope to have my new quiz online in 2-4 weeks and will certainly share it here so that you can check it out.
Have a fantastic week!
